Bad News
People. It's 5:32 a.m. Tuesday and...it's dark outside.
Noooooooooooo!
A week ago, I am sure, at 5:32 a.m., we missed the sunrise. How could it be getting darker later in the morning already? Summer, I love you. Please stay, don't end any time soon.
iPhone update
Ok, I love the phone.
I admit it's kind of nice to be at the forefront of technology for a change. And the phone is a lot of fun.
So far I haven't become addicted. I don't look at it when I am with my guy, I don't spend my entire work day texting people and I don't often carry the phone on me.
So far so good.
One question, iPhone users.
When you download your photos, are they upside down? In the camera role they are going in the right direction, but when I put them on my computer, they were all upside down.
I took the time to flip them in a photo editing program, but when uploaded them to blogger, they were upside down again.
Suggestions?

Summer Holidays
My summer holidays usually fall in July.
Pre-child, I liked taking time off around my birthday. Last year, my daycare provider took her holidays in July so I did as well.
This year, my holidays are just about to begin and continue for two weeks.
While any holiday is a fantastic one, I am a little sad with the change in winter.
People, it’s cold in the morning. The outside temperature in the morning is about 15 C (59 F). I have been putting sweaters on my little guy in morning and am thinking of bringing my cape along for the morning ride.
While I will be happy if I have sun, I also want heat – July heat.
Welcome on summer vacation.

Summer is here, which explains why I haven't posted for a while.
I thought I would show you what we have been up to. What about you?

Happy Monday
It was a glorious weekend.
I hope yours was, too.

I hosted a tea party last weekend. The bugs and rain couldn't keep the fun at bay.

Summer is Here
Officially summer doesn’t arrive until June 21 but unofficially it’s here.
I am finally warm. I can go outside and feel the heat of the sun seeping through my skin and right into my bones. I feel completely relaxed, flittering from one activity to another – going high on the swings, flipping over on the monkey bars, watching my son play in his new mini pool, going for a walk and throwing stones in the lake.
We are eating watermelon and spraying bugs with the hose. We are planting our vegetable garden and hanging clothes on the line. We are watching robins build nests and orioles and hummingbirds emptying our feeders.
I am counting down the days until summer driving season and weekends full of fun plans.
Welcome warm weather.

New Favourite Season

It used to be I would say summer was my favourite season of Canada’s four.
I still love summer – the hot weather; the sense of freedom, albeit shorter now that I am not in school; the books to be read; the water to be played in; the trips to attend; the traffic that has disappeared. Yes, I still love summer.
But I think I love spring.
This weekend, temperatures soared to double digits in the celsius world. We went without jackets, mittens and snowpants, and didn’t fuss too much when my guy pulled off his hat.
Yesterday, we spent almost the entire day outside playing on two different swing sets, pulling out our outdoor shovels and pails and loading them up with rocks. We gathered twigs and raked the grass, putting it on the fire. We burned our Christmas tree. We ate our snack outside. We threw rocks in the lake, which is beginning to melt.
It was a fantastic weekend full of sunshine that had heat and enjoyably long days.
I love spring.

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
I have been getting to work in record time this week.
Christmas, March Break and the summer are all great times to travel on Hwy. 404 because so many people take vacation.
I left 10 minutes late yesterday and that would usual cause morning stress but I just zipped through all the usual slow spots.
It’s almost a shame that I am also off next week - almost, but not quite.

Take That Labour Day

I haven’t been in school for more than a decade but Labour Day weekend still seems like summer’s last hurrah.
I still get that feeling that summer disappears the moment night closes over on Labour Day, and when I wake up that Tuesday morning fall will have arrived.
To shake off the notion that summer is over, my husband, son and I floated out on the lake on our air mattress, soaked in the sun’s still-strong rays and enjoyed a lengthy swim.
Labour Day is here and gone, but the Day family is still enjoying summer.
