Happiness Is…

New appliances.

On Friday, after a large grocery shop and as I was getting ready to host a shower for my future sister-in-law, our fridge died.

There was panic and indecisiveness but at the end we were able to put our food in our neighbour’s fridge until time would allow us to deal our dying one.

Thank goodness for the Internet. How did we ever survive without it? This week has been spent online looking at various companies and their fridges.

Wednesday night I looked on kijiji, a free advertising site, and discovered someone in a town close by was selling never-used Samsung appliances for a fantastic price. Last night my husband and his friend picked up our new appliances.

We now have a working fridge and to stave off Murphy’s Law, which says things always happen in threes, a new stove and dishwasher.

Is it sad that I am excited about new appliances?

Questions, Questions, Questions

Is it too early to eat lunch? It’s 11:15 a.m. and I am starving. Sadly, my lunch consists of crackers, which I have already eaten, a salad and an apple. I think I am going to be hungry after I eat lunch.

Is it just me or do all women wait until they are simply going to pee their pants before they actually get up from their desks and go to the washrooms? I always wait too long and then I am practically dancing to the bathroom. I am at that point now. One minute please …..

….Isn’t 3:30 a.m. a great time to get up? My son seemed to think so this morning when he played with Spider-Man, begged to watch TV and ran down the hall laughing and falling. I know Rainforest Mommy can relate.

Isn’t Murphy’s Law a pain? I finished my newspaper in record time today and a late-breaking story came in and now I am not only going to miss my deadline, but I am going to have to redo at least two pages.

Teenager+cellphone+speed=BadDayForLisa

I was involved in a head-on crash Jan. 28 with my 15-month in the car. I was literally about a minute from home.

Well they do say most accidents happen close to home and I guess I am helping that statistic along – two accidents in my life, both of which have happened on my street.
The twit who hit me was heading home from dropping off her friend. She claims she lost control and hit me. I think she was talking on her cellphone, driving too fast and taking the corner too wide.

Either way, she wrote off both of ours, suffered a knee injury and caused me to have whiplash. The baby, thankfully, was only scared and had a bruise where the seatbelt kept him in his carseat.

She wasn’t charged. That angers me.

My husband says the cop was really nice.

Great.

How about being nice and charging her with talking on her cellphone, which is now illegal in Ontario. Or how about being nice and charging her with careless driving because now I have to take what precious time I have with my son and go for treatments.
And now I have to buy a new-to-me car and worry that I am making the right decision and I am not going to buy a lemon.

I have until Friday to make that decision. No pressure.

On another note, bad things happen in three’s. I had a flood in the basement, my computer died (hence not blogging recently) and now the accident. I think I am done.
