Too Much Christmas Music?

There was a great piece on the radio a week ago where the reporter interviewed retail employees on their view of Christmas music.

Apparently if you work 12-hour days, Christmas music gets a little less – well – jolly.
On one man’s hit list was the Little Drummer Boy.

I have been listening to Christmas music since November. I realize I, too, have a Christmas music hit list.

It includes:

Santa Baby. I hate this song because it screams commercialism. If you want something from Tiffany’s, buy it yourself. Santa shouldn’t be bringing you that or a car in baby blue. However, it has a catchy tune.

Oh Christmas Tree
. Speed it up, people.
First Day of Christmas. Apparently it will cost more than $900,000 to purchase everything from maids a milking to a partridge in a pear tree. The reason? The cost of gold is going up.

I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. This song makes this list not because I don’t like it, but because it makes me nervous.

Do They Know It’s Christmas.
I also like this song but can some please explain this line: ‘So tonight thank god it’s them, instead of you’?
Is it just me or is that really awful?

Wow! $900,000? That's just insane. Very interesting fact.

Why does I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus make you nervous?

Cheers :-)

Ew. Hate Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. It is just too creepy. However, I love Santa Baby. I like to sing it with gusto in a really slutty voice. My husband, um, doesn't enjoy my rendition so much....

I am glad I am not the only one who sometimes...doesn't want to hear Christmas music ALL the time.

I swear this year they started it at Halloween.

tragic. Really tragic. I saw your post title on sits and I started laughing before I even clicked the link.

Our favorite diner has the Christmas music going and the waitresses were breaking out into song, trying to amuse themselves after hearing Alvin and the Chipmunks a few too many times.

I think in that last song you mentioned they are trying to make the point that most people are thinking better them than us, and that's not the attitude we should have. ? Maybe? I don't know... I always feel sorry for retailers, I like Xmas music but in moderate amounts, not ALL DAY LONG. My favourite version of 12 days of Xmas is the Bob and Doug Mackenzie one!

I am sure Christmas music started BEFORE December this year. All day would drive me crazy!
